Frequently asked questions
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. Every tool runs inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files stay on your device and are discarded when you click “Start over” or close the tab.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Right now every tool is free to use, with no sign-up, no usage limits and no watermarks on your files.
- Will it always be free?
- All tools are free today. We may add optional paid features in the future. If we do, we will announce it clearly on the site before anything changes.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. After your first visit the app (including the OCR engine and scanner) is cached, so every tool works without a connection. You can also install it from your browser’s menu (“Install app” or “Add to Home Screen”). OCR languages other than English are cached the first time you use them.
- Can I send files to it from WhatsApp or my Files app?
- Yes, on Android: install the app (browser menu → “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”), then use Share in WhatsApp, Gmail or Files and pick this app. On a computer, the installed app can also open PDFs with “Open with”. iPhone and iPad don’t let web apps receive shared files yet, so use the Choose files button there.
- Is it available in other languages?
- Yes: English, हिन्दी (Hindi), Bahasa Indonesia and Português. Use the language menu at the top of any page.
- How large can my files be?
- Files of 200 MB and 500+ pages generally work on desktop computers. Phones and tablets have less memory, so very large files may fail there; if that happens, try a computer or split the file first.
- Why does Word conversion look different?
- Word → PDF and PDF → Word run in your browser without Microsoft Office, so they focus on text, headings, lists, tables and images. Complex layouts (columns, text boxes, exact fonts) are simplified.
- How do I make a photo exactly 20–50 KB and 200 × 230 pixels for an exam form?
- Open “Resize photo & signature”, pick the matching preset (or type the width, height and KB limits your form gives), drag the crop box over your face and press Resize. The file is saved as a JPG inside the limits, with the DPI set. Always check the exact numbers your form asks for.
- Is redaction safe?
- Yes. Pages you redact are rebuilt as images with the black boxes burned in, and the original text, images and form values on those pages are deleted from the file, not just covered. After redacting, the tool re-reads the file and confirms the searched words are gone.
- Can I unlock a PDF without the password?
- No. The unlock tool removes a password you already know. If a file only has permissions restrictions (it opens without a password), it is unlocked automatically.
- Is the signature legally binding?
- The Sign tool adds a visual signature (an image), which is accepted for many everyday documents. It is not a certificate-based digital signature.
- Which browsers are supported?
- The latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, plus Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android. HEIC photos can be opened in Safari.
- How accurate is OCR?
- Clear, well-lit scans usually give very good results. Handwriting, low resolution and unusual fonts reduce accuracy, so always check the recognized text.
