Why is the PDF so much smaller than my BMP?
BMP files store every pixel without compression. In the PDF each picture is compressed, so the file is usually many times smaller while looking the same.
Is the image quality reduced?
Photos are saved at high quality, and you won’t see a difference on screen or in print. Keep “Image size” on “Original” to keep every pixel.
Can I combine BMP files with other image types?
Yes. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and TIFF files can go into the same PDF.
Which BMP files work?
The usual 24-bit and 32-bit BMP files made by Paint, scanners and older programs. Very unusual BMP variants may not open.
