Frequently asked questions
Why remove JavaScript from a PDF?
Scripts and automatic actions can open websites, launch files or send data when the PDF opens. Most documents don’t need them.
What happens to hidden layers?
Content in layers that are switched off is deleted, so it can’t be revealed later. Visible content stays.
Does it change the visible pages?
No. Text, images and layout stay the same. Links stop working only if you choose to remove them.
Does it remove everything hidden?
It removes the usual hiding places. For text you want gone from the pages themselves, use Redact PDF.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. It even works with the internet switched off.
