Frequently asked questions
What is Bates numbering?
A unique ID on every page, such as ABC000001, used in legal and business documents so any page can be found and cited.
Do numbers continue across several files?
Yes. If you add three files, the second continues where the first ended, and so on. The full range is shown when done.
Can I add a suffix, like a party code?
Yes. The suffix goes after the number, for example ABC000001-P.
Are my legal documents uploaded?
No. The numbers are added inside your browser, so confidential files never leave your device.
Is it free, and are there limits?
It is currently free, with no sign-up, no daily limit on files and no watermark added to your results.
